Big girls shoes

I had an amazing time at the GoGo Getaway event recently and taught two classes - this weekend however I took some time away from DT jobs and created a layout for a couple of current challenges and just for me. I have a love/hate relationship with social media and the sharing of photos - I worry about children being plastered all over the internet but I do love it when my nieces share photos of their children so I can 'borrrow' and scrap them. On this layout my great Niece is strutting her stuff in mummy's shoes.
I was firstly inspired by the current challenge over on 'Scrap the Girls'
And then I followed the sketch at 'Stuck?!

and finally I loved the pretty colours on the mood board at JOT and thought they would work perfectly with my photos.  I used pastel Gelatos to add washes of colour in Yellow, Pink and Aqua.
After adding texture paste through a stencil onto top of the Gelatos, I layered up my photos and added fussy cut feathers from Shimelle's little by little paper, embellishments and Nuvo drops.
Hope you are finding some creative time...thanks for looking...Esther xx

GoGo Getaway Challenge

HI -  it's my turn to set this months challenge over on the GoGo Getaway blog and I've chosen a set of design elements to be used on a Layout.
Esther's Elements
I have scrapped a photo of Pete and I enjoying a last supper of Fish and Chips the night before we moved house. We were exhausted and excited in equal measures and ate our meal surrounded by packed boxes!
October challenge
I started by creating a water colour background on Bazill Marshmallow (love this cardstock for mixed media). I stamped with a newsprint text background stamp onto vellum and tore down one edge.  I layered up with Jen hadfield Heart of Home papers and die cuts before adding a little chipboard fish as my something from the sea.

I fussy cut some of the flowers and branches from the papers to add extra details and layers and stamped the date on a glossy die cut label.

If you join us in this challenge & post your layouts on GoGo Getaway’s Facebook page you’ll be in the draw to win £10 to spend at Hey Little Magpie. Plus all the entries are put into a big prize draw which could win you a place at a GoGo Getaway weekend in 2018! So please join in!

I'm also sharing my layout here -

Sept Stick it down

This months double page sketch is up on the Stick It Down blog. I've created a Christmas Layout.

I hand stitched the circles for the middle border and added some sequins for a touch of bling.
I do look forward to seeing your layouts.

Cat Cuddles

I found some time to create a page for myself  - don't you just love Bank Holidays! I recently went to stay with my oldest/bestest school friend and her cat always enjoys being made a fuss of.  I made my own cut file which I then filled with patterned paper.
I layered the photos with patterned paper and created a cluster along the top and two smaller ones around the title letters and to the top left. I have had the cat buttons for about 15 years and finally found a use for them. I trimmed the layout and added a doodles border and also a border of patterned paper.
I used pink letters with polka dots and stuck some 'paws' on. Wooden buttons, brad and Nuvo dots added the finishing touches.
My layout was inspired by a few challenges too and I'm sharing them here -

Back Filled Back Ground

Hi - I'm over on the Go Go Getaway Blog with my take on the technique taught by Kirei on back filling a cut file. I have only had my Cameo Silhouette for a few weeks so am still learning but managed to create this hanging hearts design which I have used for a photo of my niece on her wedding day.
I used a variety of textured and foiled papers to fill the hearts and added stitching for extra detail. Thanks for stopping by - Happy Crafting...Esther xx

Round and Round at Stick It Down

It's time for another double layout sketch over at Stick It Down - and here is my interpretation.
this was the sketch

and a closer look at each side
The photos are many years old of my niece and Nephew when they stayed over with us for a weekend - they are now both in their 20's !!

Thanks for looking - Happy crafting, I'd love to see how you would use the sketch....Esther xx

Sunday, 6 August 2017

Hi - I took some time out from DT work today to scrap just for me and took inspiration from a couple of challenges to create this monochromatic layout of two of my great nieces. I love how it came out but it was really tricky to photograph.
I started with the sketch from Stuck?! sketch blog and then took the moodboard from Scrap the Girls.

I used distress inks and sprays to create a soft, water colour background over which I stamped and applied texture past through a leaf stencil. Once all this was dry I just layered up and placed my photos.  I also added some eyelets and threaded ribbon through - I can't remember the last time I used eyelets but thanks to the Hey Little Magpie FB challenge I dug them out and was really happy with this added little detail.
I love grey so really enjoyed using just this colour for my photos. Thanks for stopping by...Happy Crafting....Esther xx
